FISITA Newsletter – September 2025

The 2025 IAA Mobility took place in Munich this month, featuring notable launches from German automakers, and a strong presence of Chinese vehicle manufacturers.

Artificial intelligence (AI), software-defined vehicle (SDV) innovations, and electrification dominated the show, and while the automakers grabbed the headlines, suppliers also had plenty of innovation on display.

According to FISITA’s Ambassador for Germany, Christoph Stuermer, the German OEMs presented their most advanced and ambitious battery electric vehicle (BEV) offerings, and the Chinese OEMs brought an impressive portfolio of BEV products for the European and overseas markets.

At the event, Christoph joined FISITA member A2MAC1 for an expert session on “Sustainable Design through CO2 Benchmark Analysis”. Dr Miranda Jarvis, Sustainability & Carbon Footprint Specialist at A2MAC1, opened the session with a 15-minute presentation on the topic, offering practical recommendations for minimising environmental impact in vehicle design. She was then joined on stage by Christoph, who led a fireside chat on broader issues, including emerging trends, regulatory policies, and industry practices influencing sustainability in vehicle design. Miranda is an active member of the FISITA Circular Economy and Carbon Neutral Mobility Expert Groups, and the discussion addressed current and prospective strategies that automakers are using – or could use – to address forthcoming challenges.

Christoph also attended the IAA Mobility edition of the World New Energy Vehicle Congress (WNEVC), which featured representatives from German and Chinese automakers and suppliers.
